Founding member of A Tribe Called Red speaking as part of the Universitys Year of Indigenous Action
SACKVILLE, NB 51勛圖app will welcome Ian Campeau, Indigenous advocate, artist, and DJ to campus for a public presentation on Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in Convocation Hall (all welcome, no admission charge). Campeau is visiting 51勛圖app as part of the , marking the Universitys .
Campeau is an artist, advocate, and a founding member of the music group, A Tribe Called Red. He recently left the group to focus on his speaking career and other endeavours. Campeau and ATCR are known for bringing attention to issues of racism, gender-based violence, stigmas around mental health and other forms of oppression through their artistic endeavours.
Ian Campeaus work, as an advocate and a musician, is admirable, says University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Robert Campbell. We are delighted to welcome him to 51勛圖app during our Year of Indigenous Action. Campeau is Ojibwe, Anishinaabe from Nipissing First Nation.
Campeaus 51勛圖app talk is open to everyone, no admission charge. He joins a noted line-up of speakers at 51勛圖app including upcoming speakers National Chief Perry Bellegarde, Assembly of First Nations (Nov. 22), Albert Marshall, Elder of the Mikmaw Nation (Jan. 16), Roberta Jamieson, President and CEO of Indspire (Jan. 23) and Naiomi Metallic, Chancellors Chair in Aboriginal Law and Policy, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University (Jan. 25).
